Elle creates is a one-person design- and illustration studio that offers brand identities, logo’s, packaging design, layouts for books, lettering, editorial illustrations and paper goods, suitable for all occasions. And is the work of Liesbeth Cole.
Liesbeth her goal is to design artwork that connects with others, art to which people can relate to and that is uplifting.
Born in Ghent, Belgium, she is now based in Taichung, Taiwan.
Together with her husband, Liesbeth lived in Belgium, Sweden, Taiwan and New Zealand. And recently returned to Taiwan where they enjoy the Asian culture.
After working for 9 years for IKEA as an in-store graphic designer, Liesbeth stepped away from the known path and founded her own company.
Her love for IKEA didn’t stop there because she continued to share her skills working as a freelance designer for IKEA in many countries such as Taiwan, Switzerland, Sweden and the US, to name a few.
When moving to Taiwan in 2019, Liesbeth discovered a whole new culture. Not wanting to forget this experience, she started a 100-day drawing challenge portraying those distinctive features of Taiwanese everyday life.
To share these adventures, she posted the drawings on Instagram and thanks to many supportive comments a stationery- and kitchen accessory line was born. The cherry on the pie was a self-published book, displaying all the drawings and … a newfound love for illustration.
Elle creates is known for creating simple, joyful and clear designs with a keen eye for typography, and illustrations that create a twinkle in the eye.
FAVOURITES
Staring at Art Deco letters on facades and hand-painted letters on store windows. The smell of coffee in the morning, although I like to drink it from 10am. Flipping through sketchbooks of other artists. A new leaf on a plant. Unrolling my yoga mat. Pink skies. Discovering new cities. Grocery stores in other countries. Banana pancakes on Sunday morning. Chats with friends. The smell after rain on a hot day. Watching animation movies on Sunday afternoon. Popcorn that starts to pop.
